FCDC Travels to Philly

Eight Full Circle dancers performed an excerpt from veteran FCDC choreographer Hope B. Byers's work ...skinned-deep in Philadelphia March 30 and 31 as part of the Koresh Artist Showcase. Hosted by the internationally acclaimed Koresh Dance Company in its home theater, the showcase brought together diverse artists from the Philadelphia region as well as from Michigan, New Jersey, California, and Maryland. The weekend included 3 packed performances in front of enthusiastic and knowledgeable audiences.

A review in the Philadelphia Dance Journal praised Byers's work, saying, "It was a strong mix of technique and emotion as the performers danced their way through a story of slavery. The piece utilized text and music in a clever manner, and her movement paired well with her literal black-and-white costuming and casting."

After taking classes with Koresh faculty, meeting new artists, and sharing a demanding work that tackles important issues, the dancers returned energized, inspired, and eager to dig into choreography now underway for the next big Full Circle project, REFUGE.
