Music and Dance at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall

Full Circle Dance Company is thrilled to be part of the first event in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's new Casual Conversations series.

On December 2, guest conductor Ankush Kumar Bahl will be joined on the stage by WYPR's Tom Hall to reflect on a program that includes STRAVINSKY Firebird Suite (1919). The 7 pm concert will be followed by a performance of Full Circle Dance Company in the Main Lobby of Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

Full Circle's post-concert performance will include excerpts from repertoire favorites plus an original work inspired by The Firebird ballet and its central place in the story of American dance. This special live music collaboration--featuring violinist Melissa Hullman, percussionist Christopher Payne, and the dance artists of Full Circle Dance Company--will provide a vivid, interdisciplinary experience for concertgoers.

Join the BSO and Full Circle Dance Company for a rich, innovative evening of creative exchange.

Genre-spanning violinist Melissa Hullman has been invited to share the stage at such diverse venues as the Kennedy Center, Canadian Music Week, the World Bank, Bethlehem Musikfest, Maryland Artscape, and Brooklyn's Jalopy Theatre. Equally at home playing notes on the page or off the cuff, her musical collaborations range from solo, chamber, and orchestral playing to tango, jazz, folk, free improv, and Balkan, African, and Indian music. Her 2023 solo project VIO/LUMINA plays on the edge of possibility by using improvised and composed solo works to illuminate the current state of violin playing as an art form, infusing the depth and breadth of music now with the brilliance of the classical tradition. https://www.melissahullman.com

He has performed with jazz luminaries Charlie Haden, Bob Sheppard, and Slide Hampton, as well as rock legend Mike Garson (David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins), and has toured with the Grammy nominated band DeVotchka, the ska-punk band Streetlight Manifesto, and the Arabic orchestra MESTO. Christopher was a faculty accompanist at The Colburn School, The California Institute of the Arts, and Los Angeles City College, and has worked with an array of choreographers, including Holly Farmer, Julie Bour, Heidi Duckler, John Pennington, and Jessica Kondrath.
